The central office of Sanskar Bharati, ‘Kala Sankul’, hosted an artistic celebration to mark the Hindi New Year on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, signalling the beginning of Vikram Samvat 2083.
The cultural evening took place on March 19 in New Delhi and showcased the richness of Indian art, dance, and traditions.
The programme featured captivating Kathak performances as its main highlight.
Renowned artists Akshar Tekchandani and Sangeeta Dastidar mesmerised the audience with their graceful expressions and rhythmic precision, bringing alive the depth of Indian classical dance.
The event also featured noted speaker Ravi Shankar, Director of the Centre for Cultural Studies and editor of ‘Ganananchal’.
In his address, he highlighted the cultural significance of the Hindi New Year and stressed the importance of preserving traditions while adapting them to modern contexts.
Ravi Shankar also underlined the scientific basis of the Hindi calendar and encouraged people to incorporate it into daily life and pass it on to future generations. His address inspired artists, writers, and cultural enthusiasts present at the event.
The initiative aimed to celebrate the Hindi New Year not merely as a date but as an opportunity for cultural revival and creative expression.
Several distinguished guests, including senior danseuse Geetanjali Lal and Abhimanyu Lal, attended the evening and appreciated the continuity and vibrancy of Indian art and culture.
The programme was conducted by Shraboni Saha, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Shruti Sinha.
Contributions from organisers and artists, including Raj Upadhyay, Jitendra Kumar, Shyam Kumar, Bharati Dang, Sneha Singh Mukherjee, Nandini Kumari, Tarushi Singh Rajora, Sakshi Sharma, Lavanya, Garima Rani, Brijesh Vishwakarma, Vijender, and Harshit Goyal, ensured the success of the event.
