Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Met Trustees of IGNCA and discussed various aspects relating to further popularising India’s diverse culture. We also explored ways to bring more people into this journey, strengthen outreach through digital and grassroots initiatives and support artists and scholars in preserving and promoting our rich heritage.”

The IGNCA, in a post on X, described the interaction as ‘a proud milestone in India’s cultural reassertion’, stating that culture is ‘no longer elite’ but belongs to everyone. It further added that the Prime Minister met the trustees of the institution and appreciated its journey as a model of cultural democratisation and civilisational outreach across Bharat.

Established in 1987 under the Ministry of Culture, IGNCA functions as an autonomous centre dedicated to research, scholarship, and dissemination in the arts. Its multidisciplinary scope covers archaeology, anthropology, and both visual and performing arts.

The governing board comprises 18 trustees, led by President Ram Bahadur Rai.

The Executive Committee includes Sonal Mansingh, Bharat Gupt, and Member Secretary Sachchidanand Joshi, who oversees academic and administrative functions.

IGNCA operates through six divisions, including Kala Nidhi, Kala Kosa, Janapada Sampada, Kaladarsana, Cultural Informatics, and Sutradhara, each contributing to research, preservation, and public engagement.
