Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation with King Abdullah II on Thursday, during which both leaders shared concerns about the rapidly changing developments in West Asia. This was their second discussion within the same month, reflecting sustained diplomatic contact.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Conveyed advance Eid wishes to my brother, His Majesty King Abdullah II, the King of Jordan, over phone. We expressed concern at the evolving situation in West Asia and highlighted the need for dialogue and diplomacy for the early restoration of peace, security and stability in the region. Attacks on energy infrastructure in West Asia are condemnable and can lead to avoidable escalation.”
“India and Jordan stand in support of unhindered transit of goods and energy. Deeply appreciated Jordan’s efforts in facilitating the safe return of Indians stranded in the region,” the post further read.

In the past few days, PM Modi has reached out to several world leaders. These include leaders from Malaysia, France, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Israel, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar. The engagements reflect India’s active diplomatic outreach.
Earlier, PM Modi held discussions with Kuwait Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah on the evolving situation. He expressed concern and reiterated India’s opposition to any infringement of Kuwait’s sovereignty.
The Prime Minister also appreciated the support extended to the Indian community residing in Kuwait.
He also held talks with Oman Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, where both sides condemned violations of national sovereignty and highlighted the importance of maintaining regional peace. They additionally supported secure navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and acknowledged evacuation efforts.
India’s recent engagements underline its continued emphasis on dialogue and diplomacy to address tensions and promote stability across West Asia.
