
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the ‘Samudra se Samriddhi’ programme in Bhavnagar today, launching a series of transformative development projects worth more than ₹34,200 crore.
The Prime Minister has stated that these initiatives will benefit people across India and mark a significant step forward for the maritime sector.
During the high-profile event at Jawahar Maidan, PM Modi will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for projects spanning multiple sectors. He will also focus on key policies related to the shipping industry to strengthen India’s maritime capabilities.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Today, 20th September is an important day for India’s maritime sector and our quest towards self-reliance. At around 10:30 AM, will take part in the ‘Samudra se Samriddhi’ programme in Bhavnagar. Works worth over Rs. 34,200 crores will be inaugurated or their foundation stones laid. These will benefit people across India. Key policies relating to the shipping sector will also be our focus.”

Maritime Sector Initiatives
A major highlight will be maritime development, with projects worth over ₹7,870 crore.
PM Modi will inaugurate the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal at Indira Dock and lay the foundation stone for a new container terminal at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata.
Additional projects will include a cargo berth and container handling facilities at Paradip Port in Odisha, the Tuna Tekra Multi-Cargo Terminal in Gujarat, and the modernisation of Kamarajar Port (Ennore), Chennai Port, Deendayal Port (Kandla), Car Nicobar Island, along with inland waterway upgrades at Patna and Varanasi.
In Gujarat, PM Modi will unveil initiatives worth ₹26,354 crore, covering renewable energy, port infrastructure, roadways, healthcare, and urban transport.
Key projects include the HPLNG Regasification Terminal at Chhara Port, the Acrylics and Oxo Alcohol Project at Gujarat IOCL Refinery, the 600 MW Green Shoe Initiative, and the 475 MW PM-KUSUM solar feeder for farmers.
Officials will also inaugurate the Badeli 45 MW Solar PV Project and the complete solarisation of Dhordo village.
Foundation stones will be laid for expansions at Sir T General Hospital in Bhavnagar and Guru Govind Singh Government Hospital in Jamnagar.
PM Modi will also launch the four-laning of 70 kilometres of national highways to enhance connectivity.
Government bodies and private players will sign several MoUs to strengthen public-private partnerships and accelerate regional development.
The Prime Minister will also conduct an aerial survey of the Dholera Special Investment Region, planned as a greenfield industrial city with sustainable industrialisation, smart infrastructure, and global investment.
