Safe City Project: Yogi Government To Provide Pink Scooters To 10417 Women Constables

As part of the Safe City Project, the Yogi government has stepped up efforts to install 3,000 Pink Booths throughout the state of Uttar Pradesh and give Pink Scooters to all 10417 women beats.

The Women and Child Protection Organisation has prepared and submitted a proposal in this regard to the government, and it is likely to be put into action shortly after receiving the state government’s approval.

In the first stage of the project, it was decided to build Pink Booths at 20 religious locations spread across nine cities in the state, and instructions were given to provide 1100 female beat constables in 17 municipal corporations and Gautam Buddha Nagar with electric two-wheeled scooters.

Three months have been allotted for the building of Pink Booths and the provision of electric two-wheel scooters for this phase. It is important to note that Uttar Pradesh’s Safe City project will be completed in three stages. Along with Gautam Buddha Nagar, 17 municipal corporations are included in the first phase. 57 district headquarters and municipal corporations will be a part of the second phase, and 143 municipal corporations will be linked to the Safe City Project in the third phase.

In the first phase of the Safe City Project, Pink Booths will be built at 20 religious sites in nine cities throughout the state, including Varanasi, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Mathura, Gorakhpur, Agra, Balrampur, and Chitrakoot according to B.P. Jogdand, the ADG of Women and Child Safety Protection.

Jogdand added that the Home Department has sent a proposal of Rs 1.66 crore for this purpose and that the single-story Pink Booths will be constructed at each of these locations. In addition, a letter identifying the location of the pink booth and disseminating the information was sent to the police officers of each of the nine districts, about which there have been reports from numerous districts. ADG stated that the construction of the booths will start as soon as the Home Department releases its budget.

Municipal corporations and Gautam Buddha Nagar will receive 501 Pink Booths during the project’s second phase, and the remaining cities in the state will receive 2,480 Pink Booths during the third phase. Similar to this, in the first stage of the project, 550 police stations from the divisional headquarters and Gautam Buddha Nagar will receive two GPS-equipped pink scooters that will be used by 1100 women-beat constables. A proposal of Rs 15.60 crore has been sent to the Home Department in this regard.

When the government gives approval, Pink Scooty will be made accessible to 550 police stations.
