External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will undertake an official visit to Ukraine and Poland between September 3 and 5.
The visit will include meetings with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister Radoslaw Sikorski.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the engagements will seek to strengthen bilateral partnerships while allowing both sides to exchange views on regional developments and matters of shared interest.
Jaishankar’s engagement with Sybiha follows their telephone conversation on August 26.
During that discussion, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister updated Jaishankar on the deteriorating situation in the Black Sea.
The two Ministers examined possible steps to restore safe navigation and protect maritime movement in the region.
The talks took place amid continuing attacks involving commercial vessels, ports and critical infrastructure.
Sybiha warned that disruptions to Ukrainian maritime trade could have consequences well beyond the region. He said interruptions to food exports from Ukraine could create risks for global food security and affect millions of people.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister discussed opportunities to expand cooperation between India and Ukraine.
Both sides agreed to maintain communication and coordinate future diplomatic engagements.
Jaishankar said his conversation with Sybiha covered the revival of commercial activity in the Black Sea and the protection of seafarers and commercial shipping. He reaffirmed India’s consistent position that dialogue and diplomacy should remain central to resolving international disputes.
During his visit to Poland, Jaishankar will meet Deputy Prime Minister Radoslaw Sikorski for discussions on bilateral relations and regional developments.
The visit will provide India with an opportunity to deepen its engagement with both Ukraine and Poland while advancing cooperation on issues of mutual importance.
