“Redistribution Of Wealth In Interest Of People-Not Super Rich” Says Sam Pitroda, Advocates Inheritance Tax Like Law In India

Chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress, Sam Pitroda, has lent his support to the party’s stance on wealth redistribution, advocating for the implementation of an inheritance tax law in India. Pitroda highlighted the concept of inheritance tax prevalent in the United States, where a significant portion of an individual’s wealth is transferred to the government upon their demise. He stressed the fairness of such a policy, suggesting that it ensures a portion of accumulated wealth benefits the public rather than solely the heirs.

Pitroda underscored the absence of such measures in India, where immense fortunes can be passed down to heirs without any contribution to the public welfare. He emphasized the necessity for policy initiatives aimed at equitable wealth distribution, asserting that the current system primarily benefits the super-rich. Pitroda outlined the importance of debates and discussions surrounding wealth redistribution, emphasizing the need for policies that prioritize the well-being of the populace over the affluent minority.

Responding to criticisms from Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the Congress manifesto, Pitroda labeled concerns about wealth redistribution as purely policy-related. He expressed dismay at the Prime Minister’s remarks, particularly regarding the characterization of the Congress manifesto as appeasement-oriented. Pitroda rebuffed claims that the manifesto resembled the policies of the Muslim League, asserting that such accusations were baseless and indicative of the Prime Minister’s dishonesty.

Pitroda further criticized Modi’s comments about those with more children, denouncing them as insulting and unfounded. He refuted the notion that Muslims have a higher birth rate and condemned the Prime Minister’s divisive rhetoric. Pitroda attributed the BJP’s inflammatory remarks to fear and panic following the initial phases of the polls, suggesting that such tactics were indicative of the party’s desperation.

In summary, Pitroda’s statements underscore the Congress party’s commitment to policies aimed at wealth redistribution and social equity, while also criticizing the Prime Minister’s divisive rhetoric and accusations against the party’s manifesto.
