Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to honor Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals beyond India’s borders. During his visit to Guyana, PM Modi will pay tribute to a statue of Gandhi Ji. This marks the 21st instance of such a tribute on foreign soil, showcasing his commitment to Gandhi Ji’s universal message.
One notable moment occurred in August 2024 during PM Modi’s visit to Kyiv, Ukraine. He paid homage to Gandhi Ji’s statue, symbolizing peace in a conflict-ridden region. Similarly, in June 2023, PM Modi honored Gandhi Ji at the North Lawn of the UN Headquarters during International Yoga Day.
In May 2023, PM Modi unveiled a Gandhi bust in Hiroshima, Japan, highlighting resilience and peace. Earlier, in Rome, Italy, in October 2021, his floral tribute at Gandhi Ji’s statue emphasized harmony. In 2019, PM Modi released a Gandhi-inspired commemorative stamp in Abu Dhabi. The same year, he unveiled Gandhi Ji’s bust in Seoul, South Korea.
PM Modi’s efforts to spread Gandhi Ji’s ideals include launching Gandhi Solar Park at the UN Headquarters in 2019. He also inaugurated the Gandhi Peace Garden in New York and unveiled commemorative stamps at the 74th UNGA. His tributes have spanned continents, from honoring Gandhi Ji’s legacy in South Africa and Kenya to unveiling statues and busts in countries like Germany, China, and Kyrgyzstan.
PM Modi’s global tributes continue to reaffirm Mahatma Gandhi’s relevance, promoting peace and unity worldwide.
