Acharya Mahant Satyendra Das, the chief priest of the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, passed away at the age of 83 after suffering a brain stroke on February 2. He had been receiving treatment at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) in Lucknow and succumbed to his condition on February 5.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his profound condolences, calling the loss an ‘irreparable loss to the spiritual world’. In his heartfelt statement, CM Adityanath said,
“The demise of Acharya Shri Satyendra Kumar Das Ji Maharaj, the supreme devotee of Lord Ram and the chief priest of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, Shri Ayodhya Dham, is extremely sad and an irreparable loss to the spiritual world.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, recognizing the significance of Acharya Satyendra Das’s role in the spiritual and cultural history of Ayodhya, paid a visit to SGPGI on February 4.
He came to personally check on the health of the revered priest before his passing. His death is widely seen as the end of an era in the religious and historical landscape of Ayodhya, marking the passing of a key figure who had been an integral part of the temple’s legacy.
