The Ministry of Railways has announced a new Round Trip Package aimed at reducing rush and ensuring hassle-free ticket bookings during the upcoming festive season. The scheme offers discounted fares and rebate benefits to passengers booking both onward and return journeys.

According to the ministry, the move will help redistribute peak traffic over a longer period and improve utilisation of trains, including special services. Passengers can start booking tickets from 14 August for advance reservation period (ARP) dates beginning 13 October.

Under the plan, an onward ticket must be booked first for travel between 13 and 26 October 2025. The return ticket must then be booked through the connecting journey feature for travel between 17 November and 1 December 2025.

Only confirmed tickets will be eligible, with a 20% rebate applied on the base fare of the return journey. The same passenger details, class, and origin-destination pair will be required for both journeys.

The scheme applies to all train classes, including special trains, but excludes services with Flexi fares. Tickets can be booked online or offline, but both legs of the trip must use the same booking mode.

No refunds, modifications, or additional discounts will be allowed under this offer. Rail travel coupons, vouchers, or concessional passes will not be accepted for the return booking.

The Railways confirmed that the scheme is experimental and intended to ease congestion while rewarding advanced planners.
