Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Karnataka on Sunday to launch multiple metro projects in Bengaluru and flag off three Vande Bharat Express trains from the city.

The Bengaluru–Belagavi service, the 11th Vande Bharat in Karnataka, will meet a long-standing demand for a premium train between the two cities.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate the Bengaluru–Belagavi train at KSR Railway Station at around 11 AM, along with services connecting Amritsar to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Nagpur (Ajni) to Pune. The Bengaluru–Belagavi train will, however, cut travel time by almost an hour.

Major Metro Expansion in Bengaluru

After the train flag-off, PM Modi will inaugurate the Yellow Line of the Bangalore Metro and take a ride from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Electronic City. At around 1 PM, he will also lay the foundation stone for urban connectivity projects in the city and address a public function.

The Yellow Line runs from RV Road to Bommasandra under Bangalore Metro Phase-2. It covers over 19 km with 16 stations and costs about ₹7,160 crore. Its launch will expand Bengaluru’s operational metro network to more than 96 km.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for Bangalore Metro Phase-3, worth over ₹15,610 crore, which will add more than 44 km of track and 31 elevated stations.

Boost to Connectivity and Travel Experience

The Bengaluru–Belagavi Vande Bharat Express will depart Belagavi at 5:20 AM and reach KSR Bengaluru at 1:50 PM. The return trip will leave Bengaluru at 2:20 PM and arrive in Belagavi at 10:40 PM.

Fares are set at ₹2,905 and ₹2,535 for executive chair car, and ₹1,575 and ₹1,264 for AC chair car.

Officials, however, said the high-speed trains will improve regional connectivity, reduce travel time, and offer passengers a world-class travel experience.
