Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, is unlikely to address the Parliament on Tuesday. As the House discusses the vote of no confidence against the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Due to the absence of Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah from Parliament, the party decided to postpone Rahul Gandhi’s speech. Rahul Gandhi in Parliament was supposed to discuss the no-confidence motion.
MP Gogoi takes Rahul Gandhi’s place
It was Rahul Gandhi’s responsibility to start the discussion on the no-trust vote in Parliament. Later, however, Congress chose to propose MP Gaurav Gogoi for it. Just three hours prior to Rahul Gandhi’s speech, Congress will make the time of his speech public, according to party insiders.
BJP Leader mocks Rahul Gandhi in Parliament
Responding to the changes in Congress’s order of speakers, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey said, “Maybe Rahul Gandhi woke up late.”
“Maybe Rahul Gandhi wasn’t ready today or maybe he woke up late. Gaurav Gogoi spoke well. I am a victim of the turbulent times of Manipur. My uncle suffered there and was injured,” the BJP leader said.
Gaurav Gogoi’s addressal
Gaurav Gogoi, who opened today’s no-confidence discussion in the Lok Sabha, claimed that the opposition INDIA party was compelled to file the resolution in order to end PM Modi’s “vow of silence” on Manipur. He claimed that a government that preaches about “one India” had actually produced two Manipurs, one that lived in the valley and one that lived in the hills.
“Why did he (PM Modi) take about 80 days to speak on Manipur and just spoke for 30 seconds? After that, there has been no peace appeal on Manipur from him. Ministers are saying they will speak, but as the Prime Minister, the power of his words cannot be matched by ministers. Through the no-confidence motion, we want to break his vow of silence,” Gogoi said.
