Congress MP Rahul Gandhi announced on Monday that if his party comes to power in Haryana, it will reintroduce the old pension scheme and provide monthly financial support to women. Speaking at a public rally in Ambala, Gandhi emphasized the party’s commitment to social welfare initiatives as part of its campaign for the October 5 Assembly elections.
Under the proposed Mahila Shakti Yojana, Gandhi pledged to deposit Rs 2,000 into the bank accounts of women each month. He also promised to cap the price of LPG cylinders at Rs 500 and to transfer Rs 6,000 monthly to the accounts of widows, the elderly, and disabled individuals.
Additionally, he reiterated the party’s commitment to guaranteeing a minimum support price (MSP) for crops.

As part of his campaign strategy, Gandhi launched a roadshow in a roofless jeep and plans to hold two rallies across the state. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi is set to join the campaign later in the day.
Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and state Congress chief Udai Bhan accompanied him, although prominent leaders Randeep Singh Surjewala and Kumari Selja are likely to miss the event.
The ongoing yatra will follow the themes of Gandhi’s previous Bharat Jodo Yatra and Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, beginning in the Naraingarh Assembly constituency and concluding in Kurukshetra by 5 p.m.
It will traverse seven constituencies: Naraingarh, Mullana, Radaur, Ladwa, Sadhaura, Pipli, and Kurukshetra. The campaign team plans further roadshows in the coming days as the campaign intensifies, leading up to its conclusion in Haryana on October 3.
