Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his address to Congress workers in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. He asserted that the Congress would replicate its Lok Sabha 2024 success in Ayodhya by defeating the BJP in Gujarat.
Addressing the Congress workers at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan in Ahmedabad’s Paldi area, Rahul Gandhi condemned the BJP’s actions, including the vandalism of Congress offices and threats against the party. He assured the gathering that the Congress would retaliate politically, promising to oust the BJP from power in Gujarat.
Referring to recent clashes between Congress and BJP supporters outside the Congress headquarters, Rahul Gandhi expressed confidence in the Congress’s prospects in the upcoming Gujarat elections. He emphasized that the Congress would rejuvenate itself in Gujarat and initiate a new chapter for the state.
During his speech, Rahul Gandhi also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for BJP’s electoral loss in Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh, where Ayodhya is located. He accused PM Modi of neglecting local sentiments during the inauguration of the Ram Mandir and claimed that the BJP’s defeat reflected public dissatisfaction.
Prior to Rahul Gandhi’s visit, five Congress workers involved in a rioting incident were placed under judicial custody in Ahmedabad. Despite plans to meet them at Vasna police station, Rahul Gandhi’s schedule was altered as they were brought before the Chief Judicial Magistrate BG Rathod earlier in the day.
