Outrage continues to mount over the death of Dalit youth Aman Gautam in the Vikas Nagar police station area of Lucknow. Following his death, BSP President Mayawati expressed her anger and called for strict action against the involved policemen.
In a show of solidarity, Bhim Army chief and MP Chandrashekhar Azad visited the family of the deceased, demanding both compensation and a government job for them.
During his visit to Aman’s residence in Lucknow, Azad emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Gautam’s death, which the police attributed to a heart attack after arresting him for allegedly gambling in a park. However, CCTV footage reportedly shows police taking him from his home.

Azad has called for compensation of ₹50 lakh for the victim’s family and a high-level inquiry into the incident. He stated, “This entire incident must be investigated thoroughly to ensure justice.”
BSP state president Vishwanath Pal also expressed grief over Gautam’s death and urged the state government to take immediate action. He demanded that the authorities hold the responsible policemen accountable and provide a government job and financial assistance to one member of the victim’s family.
The unrest surrounding Aman’s death highlights ongoing concerns regarding police conduct and the treatment of Dalit individuals in the region, as community leaders and activists continue to advocate for justice and accountability.
