Prominent UPSC educator Avadh Ojha, widely known as Ojha Sir, joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in New Delhi on Monday. He was welcomed by AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
Hailing from Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh, Ojha has gained fame in the UPSC coaching world and on social media for his political insights. Expressing gratitude to AAP leadership, he highlighted his goal of improving India’s education infrastructure.
Arvind Kejriwal praised Ojha’s decision to enter politics, calling it a boost for education reforms and youth empowerment. “Ojha Sir has inspired countless young people to succeed in life. His expertise will benefit India’s development,” Kejriwal said.
Ojha’s Background and Journey
Born to a lawyer mother and postmaster father, Ojha grew up in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh. Despite dreaming of cracking the UPSC exam, he couldn’t achieve it and faced family estrangement. This led him to start his career in UPSC coaching.
In 2005, Ojha launched his own coaching institute in Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar, a hub for UPSC aspirants. He later expanded his influence by founding Iqra IAS Academy in Pune in 2019.

AAP is completing a decade in power in Delhi and gearing up for elections next February. Ojha’s inclusion strengthens the party’s emphasis on education and youth-oriented policies. His expertise in combining history, current affairs, and geopolitics in teaching aligns with AAP’s vision.
Ojha’s entry into politics is expected to energize the party’s campaign while spotlighting education reforms.
