Prime Minister Modi Attends Guwahati ‘Mega Bihu Programme’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the ‘Mega Bihu programme’ at the Sarusajal stadium in Guwahati on Friday.

Taking to Twitter PM Modi said, “Great vibrancy at the Bihu programme!”

A video of the occasion has also emerged on social media, in which Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma can be seen alongside the Prime Minister. The video shows the PM waving to the crowd and Bihu dancers and artists performing the state’s traditional folk dance on the occasion.

PM Modi stated at the ceremony that Assam is genuinely becoming an A1 state. “I recall saying when I came here during the Assembly election that the day would come when people would say ‘A for Assam.’ Today, Assam is truly becoming an A1 state”, he added.

He also praised the festival, calling it a reflection of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat’.

“The Bohag Bihu is a festival of the heart and soul for Assamese. It is the ideal symbol of human-nature harmony. This ceremony is an inspiration to meet our goal for a developed India with ‘Sabka Prayaas’. With this sentiment, the foundation stone of several projects has been laid, and several projects have been inaugurated today for the development of the northeast and Assam”, PM Modi continued.

In another tweet, PM said, “The colours of Bihu! Glimpses from a memorable programme in Guwahati”.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “It has been a delight to be in the midst of the people of Assam on the special day of Bihu. Here are more glimpses from the Bihu programme”, through his official Twitter handle.
