President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President CP Radhakrishnan extended warm Diwali greetings to the people of India on Sunday, emphasising the importance of celebrating the festival responsibly and with care for the environment.
Both leaders highlighted Diwali’s significance as a time for reflection, mutual affection, and social harmony.
President Murmu’s Message: Safety, Responsibility & Prosperity
In her message, President Murmu urged citizens to observe Diwali in a safe, responsible, and eco-friendly manner.
“May this Diwali bring happiness, peace, and prosperity to all,” she said, expressing her heartfelt wishes to Indians across the country and abroad.
She reflected on Diwali as a celebration of the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil.
The festival, she noted, symbolises mutual affection and brotherhood, with devotees worshipping Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity.
President Murmu also emphasised Diwali as an opportunity for self-reflection and improvement, urging people to extend help and support to the deprived and needy, bringing joy to their lives during the festive season.
Vice President Radhakrishnan’s Call for Positivity & Charity
Vice President CP Radhakrishnan echoed these sentiments, highlighting the values of generosity, charity, and inclusivity deeply rooted in India’s civilisational ethos.
He said, “Deepawali is a time when these values shine forth as we share and extend our support to the needy and underprivileged sections of society.”
He called upon citizens to shun negativity and adharma (unrighteousness), instead embracing positivity and dharma (righteousness) for both individual well-being and the nation’s progress.
Drawing inspiration from the diyas lit in every home, which together illuminate the night skies, Radhakrishnan urged collective dedication and commitment to usher in growth and prosperity for the country.
Both leaders prayed to Goddess Lakshmi to bless the nation with peace, prosperity, and good health.
Their messages underscored Diwali’s deeper meaning beyond festivity—promoting values of compassion, unity, and progress.
As India celebrates Diwali with fervour and devotion, President Murmu and Vice President Radhakrishnan’s calls for responsible celebration, environmental care, and embracing positivity serve as important reminders.
Their messages inspire citizens to reflect on the festival’s true spirit and foster harmony and well-being for all.
