The Central Government has allocated substantial financial assistance to various States for disaster response and mitigation during 2025–26.

In addition to releasing Rs 1,950.80 crore to Karnataka and Maharashtra, officials disbursed Rs 13,603.20 crore to 27 States under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and Rs 2,189.28 crore to 15 States under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF), an official confirmed on Sunday.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has authorised the advance release of Rs 1,950.80 crore as the second instalment of the Central share of SDRF for Karnataka and Maharashtra.

As per the statement, “Out of the total amount of Rs 1,950.80 crore, Rs 384.40 crore was approved for Karnataka and Rs 1,566.40 crore for Maharashtra to help these states provide immediate relief assistance to people affected by extremely heavy rainfall and floods during the south-west monsoon of this year.”

The statement further highlighted that in the current financial year, the Centre has already released Rs 13,603.20 crore under SDRF and Rs 2,189.28 crore under NDRF to aid affected States.

Additionally, the funds included Rs 4,571.30 crore from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) for 21 States and Rs 372.09 crore from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF) for nine States.

The Central Government has also extended logistical support to States impacted by floods, landslides, and cloudbursts, including the deployment of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, as well as assistance from the Army and Air Force.

This monsoon season witnessed the largest-ever mobilisation of NDRF personnel, with 199 teams deployed across 30 States and Union Territories for rescue and relief operations.
