President Droupadi Murmu praised 21-year-old filmmaker Anupriya Nagar during a courtesy meeting at Rashtrapati Bhavan. She recognised Nagar’s efforts to preserve India’s cultural and spiritual heritage through cinema.
Nagar produced Hanuman Ansh, an inspirational film based on the life, philosophy and teachings of Neem Karoli Baba. The project reflects how young Indians are reconnecting with their cultural roots while exploring opportunities on the global stage.
Murmu commended Nagar’s creative initiative. She described her as part of a generation that takes pride in its cultural identity and faces the future with confidence.
The President appreciated Nagar’s efforts to introduce younger audiences to India’s enduring values. These include love, compassion and selfless service. She described this commitment as an example of purposeful Gen Z.
Nagar later shared her experience on social media. She called the meeting an unforgettable moment. Meeting the President at 21, alongside her film, was beyond anything she had imagined.
Hanuman Ansh portrays Neem Karoli Baba’s spiritual journey, teachings and humanitarian work. The revered saint is closely associated with Kainchi Dham in Nainital, Uttarakhand. His devotees regard him as an embodiment of Lord Hanuman.
Nagar aims to inspire young people through the film. She hopes to encourage them to embrace Sanatan values, seek mental peace and practise selfless service. Her research included visits to Kainchi Dham and other ashrams. She drew on devotees’ experiences and accounts while developing the project.
Bharat Express is the film’s media partner. Nagar has repeatedly thanked Bharat Express CMD Upendrra Rai for his support and encouragement.
At 21, Nagar seeks to combine modern filmmaking with India’s spiritual traditions and connect with audiences worldwide.
