Prayagraj’s Mela Markets Stock Up As Maha Kumbh 2025 Draws Near

Preparations for the Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj are progressing rapidly, as the city gears up to host millions of devotees. With excitement building among sadhus, Kalpvasis, pilgrims, and local residents, the event promises to be a monumental occasion for both spiritual and economic growth.

Shopkeepers in the Sangam and Mela areas are busy stocking essential religious items. These include Puja materials, Patra-Panchag, Rudraksha, Tulsi garlands, and sacred texts, all sourced from places like Nepal, Banaras, and Mathura-Vrindavan, to meet the needs of the devotees.

The Maha Kumbh, a grand spiritual event for followers of the Sanatan faith, draws millions of devotees to Prayagraj for a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam.

This year, it is estimated that 40 to 45 crore devotees will visit Prayagraj for the occasion.

Maha Kumbh Mela Authority’s Efforts Under Yogi Adityanath’s Guidance

Under the guidance of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Mela Authority has been working tirelessly to ensure that all arrangements for the arrival, stay, and spiritual needs of the devotees are in place.

Local shopkeepers and traders are equally enthusiastic, viewing the event as an opportunity for business growth and employment.

The city is seeing a significant boost in the hospitality sector, with hotels, restaurants, food stalls, and shops selling puja materials, religious books, garlands, and flowers preparing for the influx of visitors.

Wholesale traders are securing goods from across the country to meet the anticipated demand.

Traders are sourcing Rudraksha garlands from Uttarakhand and Nepal, tulsi garlands from Mathura-Vrindavan, and essential puja items like roli and sandalwood from Varanasi and Delhi’s Paharganj.

Religious books, especially the Ramcharit Manas, Bhagwat Gita, Shiv Puran, and bhajan collections, are in high demand, particularly those from Gita Press, Gorakhpur.
Priests are also purchasing Patra and Panchang printed in Varanasi.

In addition to puja materials, devotees and sadhus participating in Kalpavas at the Mela are in need of havan samagri, aasan, Gangajal, plates, urns, and other worship-related items.

Shopkeepers are gearing up for the increased demand, making sure they meet visitors’ spiritual and practical needs throughout the grand event.
