Gorakhpur: According to authorities, a poultry farm owner shot his driver in the chest during a heated altercation in the Sonbarsa district here on Sunday. Manish Singh, the driver, is in severe condition and is being treated at BRD Medical College, according to officials. Police detained the poultry farm owner on Sunday, and the legal firearm used in the incident was confiscated from him.
According to authorities, Manish Singh has been working as a driver for Guddu alias Amrit Nath Singh’s chicken farm in Ramudiha village for the previous ten years. Manish Singh, a resident of Bhagawan village in the AIIMS region, is claimed to have been in a relationship with a woman for the past six years, according to sources. Manish is married and has two kids.
Manish, his brother Shivam, and his brother-in-law Sandesh Singh arrived at Guddu’s chicken farm on Saturday night to discuss about the situation, according to authorities.
During the meeting, Manish and the chicken farm owner began bickering. After several heated disputes, Guddu hit Manish, but when the driver struggled, the farm owner shot at him. Superintendent of Police (city) Krishan Kumar stated that a man was hurt by a bullet and has been admitted to BRD Medical College.

According to SP, the culprit, Amrit Nath Singh, has been apprehended and his licensed weapon has been seized. The police are looking into the situation, he added. A case has been filed against the accused under Section 307 of the IPC (attempt to kill). Circle Officer (cantonment) Anshika Verma and the forensic team investigated the crime site and gathered evidence.
