Police: Noida College Student Fatally Choked by Friends Amid Party Altercation

Yash Mittal, the son of a businessman and a student at a Noida-based university, had been reported missing from his hostel since Monday. His father, Deepak Mittal, alerted the police after receiving ransom messages demanding Rs 6 crore for his son’s safe return.

Upon reviewing CCTV footage from the campus, authorities observed Yash leaving the university on Monday while engaged in a phone conversation. Further investigation into his call records led them to his friend Rachit. Upon interrogation, Rachit revealed that Yash frequently spent time with him, Shivam, Sushant, and Shubham.

According to senior police officer Saad Miya Khan, the incident occurred on February 26 when the group invited Yash to a party in a field in Gajraula, located approximately 100 km away in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha. A brawl ensued during the party, resulting in Yash’s death. His body was subsequently buried in the field, and authorities recovered it after Rachit provided information about the burial site.

The other accused individuals were tracked down in Dadri, where they attempted to flee but were apprehended by police following an encounter. Three of the accused have been arrested, while Shubham remains at large.

Authorities stated that the ransom messages were sent by the accused to mislead Yash’s family. Multiple police teams were deployed to work on the case.

Heartbreaking visuals captured the moment when Yash’s parents broke down upon learning about his fate. Yash, described as a Bachelor’s degree student in business administration at Noida University, tragically lost his life in the incident.
