Prime Minister mocks at Jharkhand raids at Congress leader via post on X
Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized Congress leader on Friday in a series of emoji-filled posts on X (the former name of Twitter) following the Income Tax (IT) department’s seizure of crores of rupees from many locations belonging to a business group purportedly associated with the party’s Jharkhand MP Dheeraj Prasad Sahu. Modi declared that the BJP would reimburse the public for “every penny looted.”

“The countrymen should look at the pile of these notes and then listen to the honest ‘speeches’ of their leaders. Whatever has been looted from the public, every penny will have to be returned, this is Modi’s guarantee,” PM Modi wrote with several laughing and cash emojis. He was reacting to a media outlet’s story about the raids in Jharkhand and Odisha.

IT raids properties of Congress leader
On Thursday, the IT department raided many premises connected to different alcohol manufacturing companies in Odisha and Jharkhand, seizing approximately ₹300 crore. Due to suspected tax evasion, searches have been conducted since Wednesday at more than six companies, including S Shiv Ganga and Company, Boudh Distillery Pvt Ltd (BDPL), and Ranisati Paddy Processing Private Limited. According to officials, during the raids at the BDPL locations in the districts of Boudh, Raidih, Sambalpur, and Balangir in Odisha, as well as in Ranchi and Lohardaga in Jharkhand, almost ₹150 crore in total was confiscated. Notably, BDPL is among the largest producers and distributors of country liquor in western Odisha.
Officials claim that because Congress MP Dheeraj Sahu is thought to have close ties to the business owners, his home was also searched.
In the meantime, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Jogesh Sinha was allegedly connected to the enterprises that were raided, according to Kusum Tete, a BJP MLA from Sundargarh. Singh, however, denied the accusations, claiming that his only connection to the distillery’s proprietors is “familial.”
