Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia on Monday.
The leaders reviewed the rapidly evolving security landscape in West Asia. Prime Minister Modi strongly condemned the recent attacks on Saudi territory.
He described them as violations of sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In a message posted on X, Prime Minister Modi stated that both sides agreed on the urgent need to restore regional peace and stability.

He emphasised that de-escalation must remain the immediate priority. He also thanked the Crown Prince for ensuring the welfare of the Indian community residing in the Kingdom during these challenging circumstances.
Earlier, the Saudi Press Agency reported that the Ras Tanura oil refinery sustained limited damage after debris fell following the interception of two drones nearby.
An official source at the Ministry of Energy confirmed that a minor fire erupted, but emergency teams swiftly contained it.
Authorities reported no casualties. As a precaution, certain operational units were temporarily shut down.
Officials clarified that petroleum supplies to domestic markets remain unaffected.
Heightened Regional Tensions
On February 28, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Iranian strikes targeting the Riyadh Region and the Eastern Province.
The ministry described the attacks as blatant and unjustifiable. It affirmed that the Kingdom would take all necessary measures to defend its security, territory, citizens and residents.
It reiterated that Saudi airspace would not be used for aggression against Iran.
The present escalation followed joint military operations by the United States and Israel against Iran.
The strikes aimed to degrade Tehran’s missile capabilities and strategic infrastructure.
Reports indicated that senior Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, were killed in the initial phase.
Iran subsequently launched extensive drone and missile attacks against US assets and allied positions across West Asia.
The dialogue between New Delhi and Riyadh reflects close coordination amid mounting instability.
Both leaders underscored that early restoration of calm remains essential for regional and global security.
