Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Varanasi on Tuesday for a two-day programme. He will inaugurate the Ganga Expressway, attend a Mahila Sammelan, and launch development initiatives worth nearly Rs 6,350 crore.
During the evening Mahila Sammelan, PM Modi will emphasise women-focused welfare schemes implemented by the government.
Officials confirmed that the Prime Minister will lay foundation stones for over 112 projects valued at around Rs 5,300 crore. These projects include 13 sewerage and water supply schemes under AMRUT 2.0.
Authorities will also begin construction of a 500-bed multi-super-speciality hospital at Shri Shiv Prasad Gupta Divisional District Hospital. Plans include new market complexes and office infrastructure at Bhojuveer and Sigra.
The Prime Minister will also flag off two Amrit Bharat Express trains connecting Banaras-Pune (Hadapsar) and Ayodhya-Mumbai (Lokmanya Tilak Terminus). These services aim to strengthen long-distance rail connectivity.
On April 29, PM Modi will offer prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. He will later travel to Hardoi to inaugurate the Ganga Expressway and address a public gathering.
The Ganga Expressway spans 594 kilometres. It features six lanes, expandable to eight, and operates as a high-speed access-controlled corridor.
Built at an estimated cost of Rs 36,230 crore, it connects 12 districts from Meerut to Prayagraj. The project will cut travel time between these cities from 10-12 hours to nearly six hours. A 3.5-kilometre emergency airstrip in Shahjahanpur enhances strategic readiness.
Authorities expect the corridor to reduce logistics costs, improve supply chains, boost manufacturing, support farmers’ market access, promote tourism, and generate employment opportunities.
