The Bengaluru-based firm successfully launched its first commercial satellite, Drishti, into orbit using the Falcon 9 rocket. The mission represents a notable advancement in Earth observation technology and strengthens India’s position in the global space industry.
With a weight of around 190 kilograms, the Drishti satellite stands as the largest privately built Earth observation satellite in India. It brings together Electro-Optical (EO) and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) systems within a single integrated platform.
Equipped with a ‘SyncFused OptoSAR’ payload, the satellite can capture detailed images in all weather conditions, regardless of time.
SAR technology captures uninterrupted images through smoke, rain, and cloud cover, while conventional optical satellites remain affected by clouds and darkness.
Mission Drishti also underscores the rapid progress of India’s private space sector and highlights the growing contribution of startups in advancing technological frontiers.
The development is expected to encourage further innovation and strengthen the country’s space ecosystem.
