PM Narendra Modi Departs For Israel Visit To Strengthen Strategic Partnership

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday departed for a two-day visit to Israel, expressing optimism that the trip will deepen cooperation across sectors and set new benchmarks for the India-Israel Strategic Partnership.

He said he looks forward to his engagements with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to strengthen further collaboration and exchange views on regional and global developments.

This marks PM Modi’s second visit to Israel after his landmark 2017 trip, which opened new avenues in defence, agriculture and water management.

During the current visit, both sides will likely outline fresh goals for their strategic partnership and advance a shared vision for an innovative and prosperous future.

In his departure statement, the Prime Minister highlighted the robust and multifaceted nature of bilateral ties, noting their remarkable growth in recent years. He underscored cooperation in science and technology, innovation, agriculture, water management, defence and security, trade and investment, and people-to-people exchanges as priority areas.

The Prime Minister is also scheduled to meet Israeli President Isaac Herzog to discuss bilateral matters.

In a historic first, PM Modi will address the Knesset, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to do so, a move seen as a tribute to the democratic and parliamentary ties binding the two nations. He will also interact with the Indian diaspora in Israel.

The Ministry of External Affairs said the visit will reaffirm the deep and long-standing partnership between the two democracies and provide an opportunity to review shared challenges and align efforts toward a resilient partnership.

Ahead of the visit, Netanyahu described PM Modi’s arrival as historic and emphasised expanding cooperation in high-tech, artificial intelligence and quantum technologies, alongside joint engagements in Jerusalem, including a visit to Yad Vashem.
