PM Modi Welcomes Liechtenstein Prince Alois At Rashtrapati Bhavan; Holds Key Bilateral Talks

Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Liechtenstein’s Hereditary Prince Alois at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation across key sectors.

President Droupadi Murmu and PM Modi greeted Prince Alois during the ceremonial welcome. The Prince arrived in New Delhi from Vadodara, Gujarat, on Monday. Union Minister of State Jayant Singh received him at the airport.

Prince Alois is visiting India at PM Modi’s invitation. His wife, Princess Sophie, and a high-level official and business delegation are accompanying him.

PM Modi is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Prince Alois at Hyderabad House. Their discussions will cover trade, investment, science, technology, innovation and people-to-people exchanges.

The leaders will exchange views on regional and global developments.

During his visit, Prince Alois will pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. He will also meet External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary are scheduled to meet the Prince. President Murmu will host an official banquet in his honour.

The Ministry of External Affairs said the visit would strengthen bilateral engagement and open new avenues for collaboration.

The two countries are seeking to build on the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement, which came into force in 2025.

The agreement provides a framework to deepen economic ties and explore fresh opportunities for mutual benefit.

This marks Prince Alois’s second visit to India in 2026. He travelled to New Delhi in February to attend the AI Impact Summit. He had previously visited India in 2010 and 2018.
