PM Modi To Inaugurate Banas Dairy’s ₹31-Crore Robotic Warehouse In Gujarat On October 30

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate Banas Dairy’s Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) at its ultra-high-temperature (UHT) facility in Palanpur, Gujarat, on October 30.

The ₹31.14-crore installation will bring automated technology into the cooperative’s warehousing and distribution operations.

Covering 30,000 square feet, the facility will store up to 11,000 pallets across nine tiers of high-density steel racks.

The warehouse will rely on robotic shuttles and specialised software to organise inventory and retrieve products.

Under its ‘mother-child’ arrangement, a larger shuttle will carry a smaller unit to the required rack lane, where it will handle pallet placement and retrieval.

According to the project details, between five and 10 employees will be able to operate the facility.

The technology is designed to reduce manual handling, limit errors and accelerate warehouse operations.

Computerised records will identify where products from the packing line arrive.

The system will also enable staff to trace individual batches, retrieve consignments for dispatch and locate products requiring inspection.

Palanpur Plant Serves Domestic and International Markets

Banas Dairy established its Palanpur UHT plant in 2015, and the facility currently processes approximately 5.5 lakh litres of milk each day.

It generated revenue of ₹1,050 crore in 2025-26 while operating at around 90% of its established peak capacity.

The plant manufactures milk, flavoured beverages, buttermilk, high-protein drinks and ghee.

It distributes its products throughout India and exports to Singapore, the Maldives, the United Arab Emirates, and Malaysia.

Founded in 1969, Banas Dairy collects an average of 83 lakh litres of milk daily through 1,505 village-level cooperative societies. These societies involve more than 4.5 lakh livestock-rearing farmers.

The cooperative reported turnover exceeding ₹21,200 crore in 2024-25. It returned 82% of its total revenue to farmers as remuneration, while the new warehouse represents another step towards modernising its operations and improving distribution efficiency.
