On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the sacred Akshay Vat in Prayagraj, bowing his head in reverence and seeking blessings for the welfare of the public. The Prime Minister performed a ceremonial puja and parikrama (circumambulation) of the revered tree, while also reviewing the development work done for the Akshay Vat corridor ahead of the Maha Kumbh 2025.

 

PM Modi, who is playing a pivotal role in organizing the upcoming Maha Kumbh, invoked all the major pilgrimages in front of the Akshay Vat, a symbol of spiritual power and faith in Teerthraj Prayagraj. He took a solemn pledge and offered a lamp, praying for the fulfillment of auspicious wishes.

Akshay Vat: A Symbol Of Spiritual Power

Akshay Vat, considered an incarnation of Lord Veni Madhav, is believed to be the center of spiritual power, granting all siddhis (supernatural powers). It holds immense significance as part of the Kalpavriksha, a divine tree from the Samudra Manthan, with Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh believed to reside in its roots, middle, and front parts, respectively.

PM Modi’s visit to Akshay Vat underscored its importance as the heart of Prayagraj, not only for its religious value but also for its historical significance. Despite suffering during the Mughal and British periods, Akshay Vat has remained resilient, symbolizing the endurance of Sanatan Dharma.

 

According to the Puranas, Lord Shri Ram, along with Mother Sita and Lakshman, visited Akshay Vat before returning to Ayodhya after the victory in Lanka. The idols of the trio are also worshipped at the site.

PM Modi, in his role as the host for the Maha Kumbh 2025, reviewed the progress made to ensure that the Akshay Vat corridor is accessible to millions of devotees expected to attend the event. He expressed his satisfaction with the developments and sought further improvements to ensure the darshan of Akshay Vat is as smooth as possible for the masses during the Kumbh Mela.

 

The work of developing the Akshay Vat corridor, carried out under PM Modi’s vision and the leadership of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has been integral to preparations for Maha Kumbh 2025. Accompanying the Prime Minister were Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel, who also took part in the worship and prayers at the site.
