PM Modi Urges Swadeshi Push During Festive Season; Calls For ‘Vocal For Local’

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on people to make the festive season meaningful by supporting Indian-made products, strengthening the ‘Vocal for Local’ movement, and contributing to the journey of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Viksit Bharat’.

Speaking during the 125th episode of his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, PM Modi stated, “At this time, the whole country is celebrating the pomp and fervour of ‘Ganesh Utsav’. The radiance of many festivals will spread in the coming days.”

The Prime Minister urged people not to forget the importance of indigenous products during the festivities.

“You should never forget about Swadeshi during these festivals. Gifts should be those made in India, attire should be that woven in India, decor should be that made from materials made in India, luminary items from India-made frills, and many more; everything in every need of life should be Swadeshi,” he asserted.

Highlighting pride in Indian products, PM Modi emphasised, “We have to move forward with this feeling of pride for Swadeshi and say with pride, ‘This is Swadeshi’,” while stressing, “One mantra — ‘Vocal for Local’; One path — ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’; One goal — ‘Viksit Bharat’.”

Message Echoed in Ahmedabad

His remarks follow a recent address in Ahmedabad, where he had stressed that the road to ‘Viksit Bharat’ runs through self-reliance and reliance on indigenous products.

At that event, he had urged manufacturers, traders, and consumers to make Made in India a ‘life mantra’, adding, “Gradually improve quality, reduce prices, and instil confidence in Indian products. The people of Hindustan will never take anything from outside.”

He further encouraged citizens to set an example before the world by relying on local goods, including when exchanging festive gifts.

Concluding his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ broadcast, the Prime Minister also reminded people of the importance of hygiene during celebrations.

“Amidst all this joy, keep emphasising cleanliness, because where there is cleanliness, the joy of festivals rises even more,” he said.
