Kashi Residents Back PM Modi’s Call for ‘Vocal for Local’

Residents of Varanasi enthusiastically welcomed the Prime Minister’s emphasis on promoting local products.

Many citizens described the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative as a key step in strengthening India’s economy.

Addressing the public, PM Modi stressed the importance of economic self-reliance to face global challenges. He urged citizens to embrace local products and reduce dependence on imports. Traders and locals alike appreciated his appeal.

Varanasi Is an Ancient City: Manish Kumar Maurya

Manish Kumar Maurya, a resident, expressed pride in having PM Modi as the Member of Parliament for Varanasi.

He said, “It’s a matter of pride that the Prime Minister represents our ancient city. His call for promoting indigenous products strengthens both our culture and economy.”

Pradeep Kumar Gupta, a local trader, also praised the initiative.

“PM Modi’s ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign is commendable. Prioritising our products will boost the economy and contribute significantly to a self-reliant India,” he said.

Business owners stated that adopting indigenous goods would not only benefit local artisans but also reduce dependency on imported items.

Hari Kishan Singh, who runs a spice business, shared, “I make and sell my own spices. We fully support the Prime Minister’s mission.”

Gyanesh Kumar Gupta said, “The impact of the PM’s ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign will be significant. We will start producing more goods locally, reducing the need to import, and generating employment at the local level.”

At the renowned Mahadev Lal Peda Bhandar in Varanasi, crowds gathered following the PM’s message.

Samir Singh, a customer at the shop, said, “This iconic shop existed even before I was born. Their sweets are sent across India and abroad, often used as offerings to Lord Shiva.”

Rishi Singh highlighted the long-standing legacy of the shop.

“Mahadev Lal Peda Bhandar has been around for 45 years. It now has six branches across Varanasi. I first visited the city in 2005 and have enjoyed its peda ever since. It’s unique to Varanasi, even eaten during fasts, and loved for its distinct taste,” he said.
