PM Modi To Visit J&K On Friday; Multi-Layered Security In Place For Historic Train Launch

Security agencies have deployed an extensive multi-layered framework ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, with the Special Protection Group (SPG), Indian Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and Jammu & Kashmir Police taking charge of ground operations.

They designed the security measures in response to ‘Operation Sindoor’ to ensure absolute safety during the Prime Minister’s first visit to the region since the operation.

Authorities have strategically positioned security personnel across Jammu city, Reasi district, and along the entire railway track from Katra to Baramulla.

Army units and CAPFs, supported by drones, sniffer dogs, night vision devices, and electronic surveillance systems, have further secured all vantage points along the mountainous rail route.

“Every aspect of the Prime Minister’s security has been meticulously planned and executed,” said a senior officer overseeing the arrangements.

Major Infrastructure Launches & Ceremonies

As part of his itinerary, PM Modi will flag off two Vande Bharat Express trains from the Mata Vaishno Devi base camp in Katra to Srinagar and back.

The high-speed trains will drastically reduce travel time between the regions, improving connectivity for residents, pilgrims, and tourists alike.

The Prime Minister will also virtually lay the foundation stone and inaugurate projects collectively worth over ₹46,000 crore.

These include significant road infrastructure schemes aimed at enhancing last-mile connectivity in remote and border areas.

Notable projects include the widening of the Rafiabad-Kupwara National Highway, the Shopian bypass road, and two major flyovers in Srinagar at Sangrama and Bemina junctions.

Among key development highlights is the foundation stone laying of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence in Katra, a ₹350 crore initiative that will be the first medical college in Reasi district.

PM Modi will also inaugurate two engineering marvels: the iconic Chenab bridge and the Anji bridge, India’s first cable-stayed railway bridge.

The ceremonies will culminate in the dedication of the long-awaited Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) to the nation.

The ₹43,780 crore USBRL project spans 272 km, featuring 36 tunnels and 943 bridges.

It aims to ensure seamless, all-weather rail connectivity between Kashmir and the rest of India, fulfilling a 70-year-old national aspiration and paving the way for socio-economic transformation in the region.

Friday’s visit marks a security-intensive event and a historic chapter in India’s infrastructure journey.

PM Modi will launch the Vande Bharat service and dedicate the USBRL project, actions that will redefine regional mobility and demonstrate the government’s commitment to development-led peace and integration.
