Gazipur Literature Festival 2025 Celebrates Heritage, Culture, And Intellectual Dialogue

Gazipur came alive on Saturday as the Gazipur Literature Festival 2025 celebrated literature, culture, and dialogue. The festival honours the region’s rich legacy of intellectual and cultural contributions, attracting scholars, artists, and young talent from across India and abroad.

The festival opened with a ceremonial lamp lighting performed jointly by Upendrra Rai, CMD and Editor-in-Chief of Bharat Express, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Rajya Sabha MP Sangita Balwant, and South Africa’s High Commissioner Professor Anil Sokalal.

The event drew enthusiastic participation from residents, creating an atmosphere of warmth and cultural pride.

In his address, Upendrra Rai emphasised Gazipur’s historical importance, saying that any discussion of literature and culture in India remains incomplete without mentioning the city.

He highlighted great thinkers and writers from the region, including Swami Sahajanand Saraswati, Swami Vivekananda, Pahvari Baba, Kuber Nath Rai, Dr Viveki Rai, and Dr PN Singh.

Rai underscored the revolutionary role of poets and writers, quoting Kabir: “Real knowledge comes not from books, but from love and human sensitivity.” He added that literature guides society through empathy and vision, addressing social issues without revealing the personal struggles of the writer.

Gazipur’s Cultural Legacy and Spiritual Roots

Rai also recognised Manoj Sinha’s contributions and praised the spiritual and cultural depth of Gazipur. He noted that Swami Ramakrishna sent Swami Vivekananda to Gazipur to attain knowledge and spiritual growth.

Rai called on society to embark on a renewed journey of intellectual and moral development, emphasising that literature and local traditions can transform social consciousness.

The Gazipur Literature Festival 2025 goes beyond a cultural gathering; it serves as a confluence of ideas. The festival reinforced Gazipur’s special place in India’s literary and cultural landscape through literary discussions, cultural performances, and storytelling. It also promoted dialogue, reflection, and unity.

Gazipur’s rich soil has historically nurtured thought and creativity. The festival successfully showed that the city serves as a beacon of literature, culture, and intellectual heritage, inspiring both established scholars and emerging voices.
