On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Mumbai to speak at the Maritime Leaders Conclave and preside over the Global Maritime CEO Forum during India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025.
The Global Maritime CEO Forum, considered the highlight of IMW 2025, will bring together top executives from leading maritime companies, investors, policymakers, innovators, and global partners to discuss emerging trends shaping the future of the international maritime industry.
The event will act as an international platform to explore pathways for sustainable maritime growth, secure supply chains, green shipping, and inclusive development within the blue economy.
The Prime Minister’s participation underscores his strong focus on advancing India’s maritime transformation through the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, an ambitious, forward-looking framework for the sector’s long-term growth.
The vision is anchored on four main pillars: port-led growth, modern shipping and shipbuilding, seamless logistics, and skill development in maritime professions. Together, these aim to strengthen India’s position as a leading maritime nation.
According to an official statement, India Maritime Week 2025 serves as the government’s premier global platform to turn this vision into measurable progress.
It brings together key stakeholders from across shipping, ports, cruise tourism, shipbuilding, and blue economy finance.
Held from 27 to 31 October under the theme ‘Uniting Oceans, One Maritime Vision’, IMW 2025 will highlight India’s roadmap to become a major global maritime hub and a key player in the blue economy.
This year’s event will likely attract participants from more than 85 countries, including over one lakh delegates, 500 exhibitors, and around 350 international speakers.
Amit Shah Highlights India’s Growing Maritime Power
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, speaking at the inauguration of IMW 2025 on Monday, said that reforms introduced under the Modi government have turned India into a growing power in the maritime domain.
He noted that the Prime Minister’s maritime vision rests on three pillars: security, stability, and self-reliance.
“India is playing the role of a bridge between the Indo-Pacific and the Global South today, based on its maritime position, democratic stability, and naval capability. It is also accelerating all three—development, security, and environment,” Amit Shah stated.
Highlighting the event’s global reach, the Home Minister noted, “Over 100 countries’ representatives are present in today’s maritime ceremony. This is proof that India’s maritime tradition remains a central point for global partnership and regional stability even today.”
Shah added that India’s 11,000-kilometre-long coastline, spanning 13 coastal states and Union Territories, is central to trade, logistics, and the blue economy, making the maritime sector a vital contributor to the nation’s growth.
