PM Modi To Unveil Heritage-Focused Tourism Initiatives In Gujarat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for tourism projects worth over ₹67 crore across North Gujarat on March 31, as part of efforts to strengthen the region’s tourism infrastructure. The initiative aligns with the state’s vision of promoting 2026 as Gujarat Tourism Year.

The projects cover key locations such as Rani ki Vav, Vadnagar and Balaram, focusing on integrating heritage conservation with modern visitor amenities and technology-driven experiences.

At Rani ki Vav, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, authorities have developed a light and sound show with projection mapping at an estimated cost of ₹18 crore.

The installation narrates the history of Queen Udayamati while showcasing traditional water management systems and architectural features through modern visual techniques.

In Vadnagar, a water screen projection show has been created at Sharmishtha Lake with an estimated investment of ₹25 crore.

The show highlights historical water conservation practices and the town’s heritage through synchronised light and sound displays.

In Banaskantha district, authorities are undertaking development works worth around ₹25 crore at Balaram Mahadev Temple and Vishweshwar Mahadev Temple.

These include upgraded ghats, parking facilities, entrance gateways, internal roads, gazebos and food kiosks to improve accessibility and visitor experience.

The Gujarat government, led by Bhupendra Patel, continues to focus on enhancing tourism infrastructure while preserving heritage.

Officials said the projects aim to present Gujarat’s rich history through modern technology, boosting tourism activity and connecting new generations with the state’s cultural legacy.
