Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday underscored the importance of harnessing the energy and potential of India’s youth for nation-building.
Speaking during the 132nd episode of Mann Ki Baat, he said that initiatives like ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’ play a vital role in channelling the strength of young people towards constructive and nation-oriented efforts.
Describing India as one of the world’s youngest nations, the Prime Minister noted that empowering youth can significantly accelerate the country’s development.
He said the initiative has been actively connecting young individuals across the country with programmes that promote participation in national progress.
Highlighting recent efforts, he pointed to the ‘Budget Quest’ organised under the initiative, which encouraged youth to engage with the Union Budget and policymaking.
Around 12 lakh participants from across India took part in the quiz, with nearly 1.6 lakh shortlisted for a subsequent essay competition.
The Prime Minister said he had the opportunity to read several of these essays, which reflected the enthusiasm of young people to contribute to the nation’s growth.
He cited examples of participants from different states who shared ideas on key issues such as farmer welfare, women-led development, environmental sustainability and sports talent identification.
He also noted that many young contributors offered suggestions on skill development and improving the ease of doing business.
Appreciating their efforts, he said such ideas are essential for driving innovation and progress.
Emphasising the significance of youth engagement, the Prime Minister added that initiatives like ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’ are helping shape a future where young voices actively contribute to India’s development journey.
