Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch the ₹1 lakh crore Research Development and Innovation (RDI) Scheme Fund on Monday during the inaugural session of the Emerging Science and Technology Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
The landmark initiative seeks to promote a private sector-led research and development ecosystem to accelerate India’s innovation-driven growth.
The RDI Scheme Fund marks a significant step towards building a robust innovation framework by encouraging active participation from private players in the research and development landscape.
The initiative will bridge the gap between academia, industry and government bodies, offering strategic support and financial incentives for cutting-edge projects across emerging sectors.
PM Modi will likely highlight India’s commitment to emerging as a global leader in science and technology as he addresses the gathering.
He will stress that research, innovation and collaboration are essential to achieving the government’s ‘Viksit Bharat’ vision and positioning India as a global hub of scientific excellence.
ESTIC 2025: A Global Convergence of Innovation
Over 3,000 participants from academia, research institutions, industry and government — including Nobel Laureates, eminent scientists, innovators and policymakers — will gather for the three-day ESTIC 2025 Conclave, scheduled from November 3 to 5.
The event will focus on 11 key thematic areas, including Artificial Intelligence, Advanced Materials, Quantum Science, Bio-Manufacturing, Space Technologies, Health and Medical Sciences, and Energy and Climate Solutions.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the conclave will feature expert talks, panel discussions, and technology showcases, fostering collaborations among researchers, industries and young innovators.
The platform aims to drive knowledge exchange and accelerate technology development in high-impact domains.
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh, said that ESTIC 2025 serves as an outcome-oriented forum celebrating innovation and collaboration.
He emphasised that the RDI Scheme Fund will empower startups, young researchers and industries to co-create solutions aligned with India’s scientific priorities and global standards.
The conclave underscores the government’s continued commitment to promoting indigenous innovation, enhancing research capabilities, and positioning India as a world leader in emerging technologies.
Through the RDI Scheme Fund, the government envisions a thriving innovation ecosystem that drives sustainable growth and transforms India into a knowledge-driven economy.
