PM Modi To Lead CEO Roundtable At Semicon India 2025

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to participate in a CEO roundtable on Wednesday as part of the Semicon India 2025 conference, highlighting the government’s drive to position India as a global hub for semiconductor design, manufacturing, and innovation.

The roundtable will bring together top executives from leading international semiconductor companies.

During the discussion, Prime Minister Modi will explore strategic collaborations, review investment proposals, and gather insights into industry expectations from India’s evolving semiconductor ecosystem.

Company leaders will present their plans on advanced technologies, supply chain resilience, and policy frameworks.

Focus of the three-day conference

Semicon India 2025, which runs from 2 to 4 September in New Delhi, is designed to strengthen India’s semiconductor capabilities.

The three-day event includes sessions on fabrication plants, advanced packaging, innovation in research and development, artificial intelligence, and infrastructure readiness.

State-level policy support and opportunities for global partnerships are also under the spotlight.

On Tuesday, the Prime Minister inaugurated the conference, describing it as a defining moment in India’s pursuit of semiconductor self-reliance. He stressed that semiconductors power vital sectors such as healthcare, defence, artificial intelligence, space exploration, and next-generation manufacturing.

The India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), launched in 2021, remains central to this ambition. Supported by a ₹76,000 crore Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, it has already attracted commitments worth nearly ₹65,000 crore across ten projects.

These include high-volume fabrication facilities, Silicon Carbide (SiC) technologies, advanced packaging systems, and outsourced semiconductor assembly and testing (OSAT) units.

Through such initiatives, the government aims not only to reduce dependency on imports but also to establish India as a trusted partner in global semiconductor supply chains.

Industry leaders view the Prime Minister’s direct engagement at the roundtable as a key step in accelerating momentum. By encouraging international partnerships and driving policy reforms, India hopes to carve out a significant role in a sector considered critical to both economic growth and national security.
