PM Modi To Launch ₹5,700 Crore Development Projects In Bihar’s Siwan District

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Siwan district in Bihar on Friday to unveil a series of major development initiatives worth ₹5,700 crore.

This visit, ahead of the state assembly elections, underscores the Centre’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure, improving public services, and accelerating economic progress in the region.

During his visit, PM Modi will inaugurate the Vaishali–Deoria railway line, constructed at a cost of over ₹400 crore.

A new train service on this route will also be launched.

In a significant boost to regional connectivity, he will flag off the Patliputra-Gorakhpur Vande Bharat Express via Muzaffarpur and Bettiah, enhancing high-speed rail access across North Bihar.

Make in India export achievement

In a milestone under the ‘Make in India – Make for the World’ campaign, PM Modi will flag off the first export locomotive manufactured at the Marhowra Plant.

Bound for the Republic of Guinea, the locomotive features high-horsepower engines, AC propulsion, regenerative braking, and modern microprocessor-based controls.

As part of his ongoing commitment to Ganga rejuvenation, the Prime Minister will inaugurate six new Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) under the Namami Gange mission.

Worth ₹1,800 crore collectively, these plants aim to improve water quality and sanitation.

He will also lay the foundation stone for additional STPs and drinking water supply projects valued at over ₹3,000 crore to provide clean water access to thousands of households.

PM Modi will also lay the foundation for a 500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), a key initiative to promote energy efficiency.

The government will set up standalone systems ranging from 20 MWh to 80 MWh at 15 substations, including Siwan, Bettiah, Muzaffarpur, and Motihari, to support renewable energy integration.

Housing support under PMAY-U

Reinforcing the government’s housing-for-all vision, the Prime Minister will release the first instalment of financial assistance to more than 53,600 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U).

Officials will also hand over keys to 6,600 newly completed homes, marking their formal Grih Pravesh.

This marks PM Modi’s fifth visit to Bihar in 2025 and his second in less than a month, signalling an intensified focus on the state’s development.

He will inaugurate projects that will significantly improve Bihar’s infrastructure, sanitation, housing, and energy landscape.
