PM Narendra Modi will visit Arunachal Pradesh on Monday to lay the foundation stones of 13 development projects worth over ₹5,127 crore at Itanagar. He will also address a mega public meeting at Indira Gandhi Park, officials confirmed on Sunday.

Officials said the state administration has undertaken massive arrangements, including road beautification and stage preparation. Security has been tightened in the capital city and nearby areas ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival.

CM Pema Khandu Welcomes PM Modi

CM Pema Khandu inspected preparations at IG Park, Itanagar.

Taking to X, he posted, “Never before has Arunachal seen such consistent attention from a Prime Minister, showing real care for the dreams and development of our people. Eager to welcome Hon’ble PM Modi Ji as he inaugurates and lays the foundation for key projects, and witness the transformative impact these initiatives will bring to every corner of Arunachal.”

PM Modi will virtually lay the foundation stone for two key hydroelectric projects in Shi Yomi district—the 186-MW Tato-I project and the 240-MW Heo project over the Yarjep River.

Together, the projects will cost ₹3,689 crore and generate 1,803 million units annually. After commissioning, Arunachal Pradesh will receive free power worth over ₹98 crore and a Local Area Development Fund of over ₹16 crore every year for community development.

The Prime Minister will also virtually inaugurate a state-of-the-art integrated convention centre in Tawang, built at a cost of ₹147 crore. The facility will host meetings, conferences, and exhibitions, while boosting local tourism, services, and handicrafts.

PM Modi will launch 10 major infrastructure projects worth ₹1,291 crore. These include the ambitious 1,830-km Frontier Highway and the second phase of the Vibrant Village Programme (VVP).

The Frontier Highway will run parallel to the McMahon Line. It will connect Bomdila in West Kameng district to Vijaynagar in Changlang district. Officials said the project will strengthen national security and significantly enhance border connectivity.

The second phase of the VVP will provide all-weather roads, 4G telecom, and on-grid electrification to 122 border villages. Of these, 67 are along the India-Myanmar border and 55 along the India-Bhutan border.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has sanctioned ₹2,205 crore for the programme. With a total outlay of ₹6,839 crore, VVP-II will be implemented across strategic villages in 16 states and Union Territories till FY 2028–29.

The scheme aims to improve living conditions, create livelihood opportunities, and integrate border populations as active partners in national security.
