PM Modi To Brief Citizens In Evening Address At 5 PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address citizens at 5 PM on Sunday, signalling an important moment ahead of the implementation of GST 2.0 reforms across the country.

While the government has not officially confirmed the topics, speculation points strongly towards the new GST framework as the primary focus.

The timing of the Prime Minister’s address coincides with the launch of GST 2.0, which aims to reduce the indirect tax burden on ordinary households and provide relief to citizens.

Announced on August 15 from the Red Fort, PM Modi described the reforms as a Diwali gift for the nation, highlighting their potential to ease taxes on essential items and stimulate economic activity.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman confirmed on September 4 that the GST Council had approved the reform package.

The measures include lowering taxes on a wide array of goods, ranging from packaged foods to consumer electronics, while simplifying the tax regime with a two-rate structure to benefit small businesses and traders.

Economic and Citizen Benefits

The GST 2.0 rollout is expected to streamline the indirect tax system, make compliance simpler for businesses, and increase disposable income for households.

The reforms are part of the government’s broader strategy to foster a business-friendly environment, promote entrepreneurship, and enhance overall economic growth.

Apart from GST reforms, the Prime Minister may touch upon other pressing national and international issues.

These could include the recent restrictions on H-1B visas in the United States, affecting Indian professionals in the tech sector, or ongoing tariff disputes with Washington.

PM Modi may also reiterate the government’s emphasis on ‘Swadeshi’ initiatives and the vision of building an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ to strengthen domestic production and self-reliance.

PM Modi’s most recent national address was on May 12, when he briefed the country on Operation Sindoor, India’s retaliatory response following the terror attack in Pahalgam.

The upcoming address will focus on policy and reform measures that directly affect citizens and businesses.

As India implements GST 2.0, the Prime Minister will clarify key reforms, outline benefits for citizens, and guide businesses navigating the new tax structure.

This communication reinforces the government’s commitment to economic efficiency, citizen welfare, and creating a more transparent, simplified taxation system.
