PM Modi To Launch Development Projects Worth Rs 2200 Crore In Varanasi On August 2

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to lay the foundation stone and inaugurate a series of development initiatives in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on August 2 at around 11 AM.

Addressing the gathering, he will unveil projects worth around Rs 2200 crore, encompassing a broad spectrum of sectors aimed at transforming the city’s infrastructure and quality of life.

A key focus of the visit is infrastructure development, particularly road connectivity.

PM Modi will inaugurate the widening and strengthening of the Varanasi-Bhadohi and Chhitauni-Shool Tankeshwar roads, and the Railway Overbridge at Hardattpur will ease congestion on the Mohan Sarai-Adalpura road.

Additionally, he will lay the foundation stones for extensive road improvements across several rural and urban corridors, including Dalmandi, Lahartara-Kotwa, Gangapur, Babatpur, and others.

The projects also include new railway overbridges at Level Crossing 22C and Khalispur Yard to enhance traffic flow.

To strengthen power infrastructure, PM Modi will initiate the Smart Distribution Project and the undergrounding of electrical systems worth over Rs 880 crore, which will improve energy reliability and sustainability in the region.

Boosting Tourism and Cultural Heritage

In a significant boost to tourism, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the redevelopment of eight riverfront Kuccha Ghats and the beautification of key religious and heritage sites such as Kalika Dham, Rangildas Kutiya pond and ghat, and the water purification of Durgakund.

Restoration efforts will also begin at the Kardameshwar Mahadev Temple and Karkhiyaon, the birthplace of notable freedom fighters.

City Facility Centres will be developed at Sarnath, Rishi Mandvi, and Ramnagar zones, along with the redevelopment of Munshi Premchand’s ancestral house and museum in Lamahi.

Environmental initiatives include the foundation stone for an Urban Miyawaki Forest at Kanchanpur and beautification of Shaheed Udyan alongside 21 other parks.

Water body preservation efforts will cover water purification and maintenance works at sacred kunds such as Ramkund, Mandakini, and Shankuldhara, coupled with the installation of floating pujan platforms.

Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, PM Modi will inaugurate 47 Rural Drinking Water Schemes to ensure safe and reliable water access in rural areas.

Educational infrastructure will receive a boost with the inauguration of upgrades to 53 school buildings and foundation stones laid for new projects, including a district library and the rejuvenation of Government High Schools at Jakhini and Lalpur.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate advanced medical equipment installations, including robotic surgery and CT scan facilities, at Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Cancer Centre and Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for a Homoeopathic College and Hospital, and inaugurate an Animal Birth Control Centre along with a Dog Care Centre.

Security personnel will benefit from the inauguration of a 300-capacity Multipurpose Hall at Pradeshik Armed Constabulary (PAC) Ramnagar and the foundation stone for Quick Response Team (QRT) Barracks.

Farmer Welfare and Community Initiatives

Further supporting farmers, PM Modi will release the 20th instalment of PM-KISAN, transferring over Rs 20,500 crore to more than 9.7 crore farmers nationwide.

This will bring the total disbursed amount under the scheme to over Rs 3.90 lakh crore.

PM Modi will also inaugurate the registration portal for the Kashi Sansad Pratiyogita, which includes competitions in sketching, painting, photography, sports, knowledge, and a job fair.

Additionally, the government will distribute over 7,400 assistive aids to Divyangjan and elderly beneficiaries.

These multifaceted projects demonstrate the government’s commitment to holistic urban renewal, cultural preservation, and inclusive growth in Varanasi.

The developments promise to enhance the city’s infrastructure, foster tourism, improve public health and education, and uplift the community, further solidifying Varanasi’s stature as a vibrant and sustainable city.
