PM Modi To Interact With Students; Honour Assam Movement Martyrs

On the second day of his Assam visit, PM Modi will interact with 25 meritorious students from various schools during a special session aboard the cruise vessel Charaideo, sailing along the Brahmaputra River.

The session will last around 30 minutes. Authorities have strengthened security along the riverfront and suspended ferry services on the Brahmaputra until noon to ensure the programme runs smoothly.

Tribute to Assam Movement Martyrs

Following the student interaction, the Prime Minister will visit the newly constructed Swahid Smarak Kshetra in Guwahati to pay homage to the 860 martyrs of the historic Assam Movement, a six-year-long agitation against illegal foreigners that began in 1979.

During his visit, PM Modi will tour the martyrs’ gallery, view the busts of all 860 martyrs, and garland the statue of Khargeswar Talukdar, the first martyr of the movement, honouring their sacrifice for Assam’s identity and sovereignty.

PM Modi will then travel to Dibrugarh and proceed to Namrup, where he will perform the bhumi pujan of the Rs 10,600 crore ammonia-urea fertiliser project.

The project is expected to strengthen Assam’s industrial landscape, ensure fertiliser availability for local farmers, reduce import dependence, and generate significant employment opportunities.

According to a government press release, the initiative represents a key step in regional economic development, industrial revival, and the Prime Minister’s vision of promoting farmers’ welfare.

Public Engagement and Regional Development

The Prime Minister will address a public rally in Namrup before returning to New Delhi, reiterating his commitment to Assam’s economic growth and industrial advancement.

His visit follows a productive first day, during which he inaugurated the new terminal building of Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, unveiled an 80-foot statue of Assam’s first Chief Minister Gopinath Bordoloi, and participated in a public meeting and roadshow in Guwahati, setting the political tone ahead of next year’s Assembly elections.
