CG Semi built the facility with an investment of over ₹7,500 crore under the India Semiconductor Mission.
The plant will deliver end-to-end semiconductor assembly and testing services, including wafer sorting, package design and product testing, with an annual production capacity of up to five billion chips.
It will serve the automotive, industrial, telecommunications, 5G and Internet of Things (IoT) sectors, meeting the growing demand driven by artificial intelligence and high-performance computing.
The Prime Minister’s Office described the inauguration as a major milestone for India’s semiconductor industry.
The Sanand facility will strengthen the country’s chip packaging and testing capabilities while supporting its ambition to become a global electronics manufacturing hub.
PM Modi’s Gujarat visit follows his engagements in Rajasthan, where he will inaugurate the new terminal building at Jodhpur Airport, launch the Modified UDAN scheme, and dedicate, inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth around ₹1.06 lakh crore in Balotra.
The inauguration of the Sanand facility underscores the government’s continued focus on strengthening high-technology manufacturing and advancing India’s semiconductor ambitions.
