PM Modi To Host BJP Councillors From Thiruvananthapuram In Delhi After Historic Civic Win

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host a delegation of BJP councillors from the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation at his official residence on February 13, in a rare gesture highlighting the political significance of the party’s victory in Kerala’s capital city.

The Prime Minister has personally invited a BJP delegation led by Mayor VV Rajesh for a dinner reception, an unusual honour for municipal representatives.

Political observers see this as a clear signal of the central leadership’s intent to showcase the win as a turning point in Kerala politics.

All 50 BJP councillors from the 101-member Thiruvananthapuram Corporation Council will travel to New Delhi, departing Kerala on February 9 aboard the Kerala Express.

BJP units across several states will organise receptions at major stations where the train halts, transforming the journey into a coordinated political outreach exercise.

During the visit, the councillors will also tour monuments of national importance in the capital.

The party is expected to unveil the Thiruvananthapuram development document in Delhi, further projecting the civic result as a blueprint for governance.

Prime Minister Modi had earlier described the victory as ‘the beginning of a new era’ and a milestone ‘written in golden letters’, also sending personal congratulatory letters to Mayor Rajesh and Deputy Mayor Asha Nath.

The BJP formed the Corporation administration with the support of an independent councillor, marking the first time the party has governed a municipal corporation in Kerala.

The NDA’s surge pushed the LDF to second place, while the Congress-led UDF slipped to third.

Analysts view the Delhi event as a morale booster as the BJP prepares for the upcoming Assembly elections, despite currently having no representation in the 140-member Kerala Assembly.
