Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate 38,949 newly constructed rural homes across Gujarat on March 31, marking a major step in expanding housing access for low-income families under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin).

Authorities have built these homes at an estimated cost of ₹651 crore across multiple districts for families who previously lacked proper housing or lived in temporary structures.

Officials said the scheme not only provides shelter but also ensures dignity, security and stability for beneficiaries.

Under the PMAY-G framework, the government provides eligible families with financial assistance of ₹1.20 lakh in instalments, shared between the Centre and the state in a 60:40 ratio.

The state government has extended additional support, offering ₹50,000 at the roof-casting stage and incentives for timely completion.

Beneficiaries who complete construction within six months receive an additional ₹20,000, while authorities provide ₹5,000 for building bathrooms, improving sanitation and convenience, particularly for women.

The scheme also integrates other welfare benefits. Authorities provide wage support under MGNREGA and financial aid for toilet construction under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), strengthening overall living standards.

The Gujarat government has allocated ₹1,755 crore in the 2026–27 budget for rural housing, reflecting its continued focus on expanding coverage.

In the current financial year, authorities have already completed over 1.2 lakh houses.

Officials said the initiative will bring greater stability and improve the quality of life for thousands of families, reinforcing the government’s commitment to inclusive rural development.
