Prime Minister Narendra Modi will disburse incentives amounting to around Rs 2,400 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) during a special programme scheduled for June 19, according to an announcement made on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said the employment-focused scheme has already supported the creation of around 15 lakh job opportunities across the country since its launch.

The PM-VBRY has been designed to encourage participation in the formal economy by both employees and employers.

Under the scheme, first-time employees are eligible for incentives of up to Rs 15,000, providing financial assistance as they begin their professional careers.

Employers generating additional employment can receive incentives of up to Rs 3,000 per month for each additional employee, a measure aimed at promoting sustained job creation across sectors.

Recognising the manufacturing sector’s role in driving economic growth, the scheme offers incentives to manufacturing employers for four years, while employers in other sectors can avail themselves of benefits for two years.

The government said the initiative reflects its commitment to fostering employment-led growth and ensuring that economic expansion translates into quality formal job opportunities, particularly for young people entering the workforce.

Launched in August 2025, the scheme has a total outlay of Rs 99,446 crore and aims to facilitate the creation of more than 3.5 crore jobs over two years.

Of the total projected beneficiaries, around 1.92 crore are likely to be first-time entrants to the workforce, according to the government.

The PM-VBRY will likely play a key role in expanding formal employment, strengthening social security coverage and advancing the vision of a developed India by supporting both workers and employers.
