
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Purnea district in Bihar on 15 September to inaugurate the new Purnea Airport and launch projects worth over Rs 45,000 crore.
The airport is expected to revolutionise air connectivity for Purnea and the broader Koshi and Seemanchal regions, which have faced long-standing transport challenges.

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary recently inspected the airport site, ensuring preparations are on track for the Prime Minister’s visit.
He emphasised that the entire state, especially the Koshi and Seemanchal regions, eagerly anticipates enhanced air connectivity and the transformative development it will bring.
Major Infrastructure Initiatives
In addition to the airport, the PM Modi government has approved the construction of the Mokama–Munger section of the Buxar–Bhagalpur High-Speed Corridor.
This 82.4 km, four-lane Greenfield Expressway project, costing Rs 4,447 crore, aims to drastically reduce travel time and improve road connectivity across central and eastern Bihar.
PM Modi will make a key political impact with his public rally in Purnea as the Bihar Assembly elections approach.
The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) plans to highlight its development achievements, while the opposition INDIA bloc prepares counter-campaigns focused on social justice and people’s rights.
The NDA campaign in Bihar will include prominent leaders such as Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
The INDIA bloc is gearing up for a robust campaign to challenge the NDA’s development narrative.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, fresh from his popular Voter Adhikar Yatra, will return to Bihar to lead rallies.
Mallikarjun Kharge, Arvind Kejriwal, and other alliance leaders will intensify their campaigning efforts.
The upcoming weeks promise a fierce electoral battle in Bihar, with the NDA emphasising infrastructure and growth, while the INDIA bloc appeals on issues of social equity.
